blade mistress

Or something like that.. this is more fun than I had in a while tho, and that's why I'm sharing the WIP. It started with a weird sketch that was inspired by 2h of deviantart browsing (which means it's 99.7% manga/anime oriented). She had a way bigger head/hair before I went over on the second round of detailing/paint-covering of her head.

I just like the fact it's just a girl and all I get to play with is the sexy and the "scy-fi-ish" part of it. Oh yeah. Another thing I tried was to keep the colors planned out before I went too crazy. Gonna be trying to work with dark and muted blue-greens and bright strong red-oranges.

*edit* Just called it done and here's the product. Don't want to be spending too much time rendering something that's just a concept study. I did enjoy it a lot tho =D.

Cheers! Have sum beers!

Erm...

I had a teacher that said very loud and clear in class: "Don't make a blog if you don' t update it at least once a month. People will think you're dead. And that's a bad thing". I agree. Business can't go well if clients don't know you are alive to paint for them heh.

Along with other watercolor stuff that I'll post shortly. I've been working on this digital painting of a faerie. Random subject. Just wanted something that would make me sit and paint. I'm happy with how it looks right now, maybe I'll work on her hands a little. I'm open for suggestions.

Cheers!

Mastablasta!

So I've done this work for a client in the UK!!! Very nice easygoing fella. This is an album cover for two rappers of my client's music record or something like that. Their sound is pretty cool and the album will be available for free download soon from what I understood. Anyways, it was lots of fun and here is a look at how it came out.

Noel Xmas Card

I was blessed with being picked to work on this chrismas card. My client was very cool and specific so it went really smoothly throughout the whole process. This was my first official freelance in the U.S. after graduating, so I was kinda nervous about how it would come out, but I like it and so does my client, so yay for xmas!

The illustration has different color options for the kids clothes as well, and also a version without the heads, so that people can put their kids heads on top of the bodies =D. The headless version looks a little bit creepy so I'm not gonna post here =D.

Cheers everyone and a great summer.

Wanna Play?

I'm currently starting to color this sort of pinup girl sketch at the beach. She looks like she needs a buddy to play!! LoL

Cheers!

Another WIP =D

Anne Hathaway is just really gorgeous so I went after a nice picture of her to study from. I definitely need much more greens in her flesh to keep going, I just realized that the photo has her lit from the surroundings yellow greens, which make it harmonize. I might try changing it to blues tho...

Here ya go.

Hawt Wheelz

Last week I was surprisingly contacted by a guy who's creating a new brand for car racing gear and apparel. He wanted me to illustrate a few characters wearing what would be the stuff. I think that at some point in his meetings with partners they decided to go with another artist (all I know is they had more than 3 to start with), but it's still a pretty cool setup to try and paint some pinup girls or just practice some "photoshopainting".

This is a WIP of something that I hope to finish soon. I'm liking her. I'm enjoying experimenting new techniques.

Eric Cartman or Stewie Griffin? I'm really not sure who's funnier.

Have a good break pplz!

Female Eriah

So... A little bit sad, lil bit disappointed, but life goes on. School ends and the real deal is somewhere out there, I'm just trying to find it =]. For now, I'm trying to keep myself busy working for an old archived game project of a brazillian friend of mine. Maybe if I show him some cool characters and environments, he might get motivated to finish it off and all ... All and all it's good practice, and I'm trying blend a couple of different photoshop techniques with what I usually do, it's been fun so far.

this is how the progress is going. I still wanna work much more on the background and I feel like the main character needs to have some of her details read better

Springshow prayers =]

This year I'm submitting 5 pieces to the show. Hopefully they won't all fail, but who knows. Even if nothing gets in, I still enjoyed working on and some of the results. Below is one of the submissions, which is a 20x30 print of some characters for the steampunk aladdin project.

Steampunk Aladdin

So I've gotten those two characters that I was developing for a Prince of Persia concept, and put them into a steampunk aladdin concept. It's going really fun so far,
I'm happy to be working on it right now.

No sleep last night but I am almost fully satisfied with the results, with a few changes to make in some of the characters. That's how the prints looked for review in class.

doodle

litte 20 min doodle while bored and tired of flash in illustration 3 class. Meh I kinda started adding saturated colors to make it fun but I'm not sure it wasn't enough... I'm just terrible with colors..

Final Poster

So this is the poster after painful hours of illustrator. I don't think it stands a chance on the actual competition since it's so crazy and senseless, but it's a fun looking crazy piece lol. Go aliens! [and monsters]

Ennui

This is a piece I'm working on for my Honor's portfolio class. It's about a sonnet by Sylvia Plath: Ennui. I had a fun time trying to come up with some sort of interpretation for that sonnet, it's something very unusual to me to try and illustrate something like that, but it's been fun so far. That's my color comp. I might do the finish in oils, the wacom tablet is starting to hurt my hand =P.

Added a new comp which I will probably be working from, if approved. This one gets back the idea (not shown here) that I had on the thumbnail stage, where the trees are all aligned and kind of suggest a prison cell. Kazu said he prefered it that way, and I think he has a good point.

Portfolio class

I'm working on a "my version" for the characters of the new prince of persia game, by Ubisoft. This would be the prince, or almost that, I might add some more work to him if I get the time.

* Added a 'sorta' finished version of the princess, Elika.

- Yes, I know. -

Haight Ashbury street fair

So for illustration 3 we got a cool assignment which will be submitted by our teacher Gordon Silveria to the Haigh Ashbury street fair poster competition. It will be finalized in Illustrator (or I'll try to). Some craziness, some hippieness, some whateverness. I think it's got a point. Or not, but still having the point of not having one, maybe.

Games, fun, drawings

Besides making up bad jokes and drawings, I also really enjoy playing video-games. That might be one of the few things that I'm not that bad at =], like shooting three pointers maybe, or slam dunking in the good old days heh (that was fun)...
Anyways, I'm trying to get my pieces to kind of focus in a portfolio for the gaming industry, so from now on, I'll be trying hard to bring the class concepts/assignments to be something that could be appealing to those companies.

Blizzard's World of Warcraft is a big hit and there's about a dozen million of players around the globe, including me, who enjoy pretending we're badasses with cool powers, or badass shields good enough to keep us from being completely crushed by a giant dragon's bite. Well, here is the drawing for this assignment, I had a lot of fun putting up details and trying to make the characters very different from each other. I made it into a "WoW" theme, trying to bring up that challenge and see if I could match up with the beautiful art standards of that game.
I should have the painting of it done before next tuesday, so I'll post it here, as well as some turnarounds and stuff.

Cheers! Have a beer!

**edited**

I've added a couple colored images, one with some color and a very rough background, and the other a little more finished with the background worked into something with a little more shape and story to it. I'm liking it. Tomorrow I'll put some more hours in it to really finish that one and move on to the next challenge =P.

ILL2 final

Yep a bit late on this one. Anyways, i was going trough some stuff and I felt good about this project. I hope I can move from that to something a lot further this semester, which is my last official semester, so I gotta come out somehow with some good stuff.. Anyways. This was a project that kinda lasted for 3 weeks, counting character creation, concept and all, and one week to make that cd cover in watercolor (the cover is actually a photo of the watercolor with some leveling of values in photoshop). Oh, and forgive me for some bad english mistakes like "deers" as the plural of deer, live and learn I guess!

In ILL3 I'll be working mainly with computer and that does make me quite happy. Hope to see some familiar faces around! Later =]
