Pastel Process

So I'm taking a pastel drawing class this semester, and it turns out it's a very interesting medium. It's more forgiving than I thought actually, and it's colorful!
I decided to take pictures of my process since it's a new medium for me and I'm sharing it here. It's basically what I took from Bill Maughan's demos and explanations plus the addition of different colors, which he hasn't covered in class yet, where we're kind of still supposed to use flesh tones.

Not dead, still breathing

Been a while since I posted, so here's a couple new paintings, the nudes, from class with Zhaoming and then a painting of Hsin Yao I did last semester, which will inspire one of the characters for my (future) book project.

Thx for stopping by (san diego... lol)!

skinny knight vs giant mushroom forest protector

I have a hunch on who's gonna win this one, but I won't tell you =]
It's kind of a step-by-step assignment, so for monday it's pretty much done (even though I'm gonna color them). Next week we add an environment.

Yep this is also for me book story fantasy thesis whatevs whatevs...

Fall update

So Halloween is about to make everyone go crazy... On a personal matter I figured it'd be nice to stop taking the lazy pill and photograph some of the works I've been doing this semester. These are from portrait painting with Zheng Fu Lu and from situation and environment class with the amazing Zhaoming Wu, not to mention the awesome classmates from whom I've been learning quite a lot as well...
Anyways, hope these aren't too bad. Been trying hard to make my colored canvases look like actual paintings...
