winter break!

YAY!!! Right now I'm writing from a classy United Airlines lounge waiting for my filght to Brazil on business class!!! I got the upgrade for free as an excuse from them, I guess, since they made me lose my connection to Sao Paulo yesterday... I really wish I was already there over all this free drinks and internet stuff... maybe the seats will be really nice on the plane and I'll change my mind, but w/e, I feel a bit special..

Anyways, the semester was awesome and there's so much to upload here, and most of it I just left at home in SF, and will only put it when spring semester starts. Right now I managed to treat up my final painting for figure painting class. It was a very fun 3 class assignment and I felt overwhelmed with the work since it was my first time painting on that size, which is 30x40 inches. There's still a lot of openings for work on that to make it look better, but I am pleased with the overall look of it and the color palette. I also really loved the models and their poses, it's just really nice and added a lot to the storytelling aspect of it.

Enjoy!

Change

I changed the colors of the blog cuz I was tired of the other colors. I hope it doesn't look too much like poop now. I like it. It feels like western/cowboy/leather/traditional to me, which makes no sense cause i'm not western, not a cowboy, don't wear leather and I'm definitely not traditional. I do like horses tho, a lot... Who cares? The pope? I don't know, maybe I care and so forth I changed. The title is also new and it was really hard to come up with, believe me. So many paintings to put in here, and such laziness to do so... I wonder which will win...

I should be doing homework so I guess I'll get to it... DALE GREMIO!!!

Angelina Jolie

This was an assignment where I both had fun throughout the thinking process as well as I learned a lot about rendering with watercolors. There are so many mistakes showing through the piece, but still it reads, and I think that's the beauty of watercolor, making those mistakes look nice and not try to overwork them.

Anyways, the assignment was supposed to tell a story with a few elements, so I have a poster that tries to summarize the important things in the Angelina's life right now.

Ellyl

This faerie-type thingy is a creation of a friend of mine from brazil, and I had the job to design and now paint it. I think the project is not really ongoing right now, but still i wanted to paint this for a few reasons. First, to practice a little bit of the skills I am getting in class and see if I can apply them on a different medium and subject (been painting ladscapes and nude figures a lot). This is quite a bit stylized and mostly if not fully from head (the drawing was done quite a while ago).

It was fun, and quicker than i expected. So there ya go...

Master Copy

today I turned in my master copy, which was done from a Bouguereau painting entitled "Evening Mood" (google it! =D). My version of it looks something like below. I'm happy with it, but once again, with more time into it, the piece could look a lot better.

More from Italy

This country has been awesome so far.
I finally took pictures of more paintings and what I did is I created an album on picasa for the paintings so just click on the link below to check them all out. Soon I want to take pictures of the sketches I've been doing also, I just want to get a little more done before I post it.

Ciao!

Italy paintings

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

So today I was finally happy with my painting. It's a very long way to go still, but it's a start. I guess that it was the most fun and successful of my paintings so far because I used the background more as information of value and color then any sort of details.

Italy has been great and everywhere you look is just gorgeous and people are also really nice. Today this old lady who lived in a house where we were painting came and offered her bathroom for people to use and also served us coffee! I didn't have any coffee because it was so hot!!!

Anyways, here are my first 5 paintings from italy, the top one being the one I talked about.
